The Yakovlev Yak-15 (USAF/DoD designation: Type 2, NATO designation: Feather) was a single-engine jet fighter manufactured by the Soviet design bureau Yakovlev during the years 1946 and 1947 from the Yakovlev Yak-3 propeller model It became the first truly viable Soviet jet aircraft, as well as being the first to enter operational service in the Soviet Air Force. A short time later it served as the basis for the Yakovlev Yak-17 and Yakovlev Yak-23 reactors. The two-seater training variant of the Yak-15 received the designation Yak-21.
